In 21 January 1998, Sony Entertainment Television and Fireworks Productions launched a weekly crime thriller called CID.[2] CID set another record in 7 November 2004, when Mr B.P. Singh entered Guinness Book of World Records for canning an entire episode of CID named The Inheritance / C.I.D. 111 in just one single shot of 111 minutes (one hour fifty one minutes) without a single cut.
In 3 January 2005 Sony Entertainment Television and Fireworks Productions launched a daily investigative thriller called CID Special Bureau, which had a run of 168 episodes. But unfortunately in 27 April 2006, it ended its CID Special Bureau.
In 7 July 2006 launched a nation wide hunt called "CID Operation Talaash" in search of a new officer to join the CID team,[3] which ended on 1 September 2006. Vivek Mashru was declared the winner of the hunt and his characters name is also Vivek. [4]
CID is the longest running show in the history of Indian Television.[5] It is a laborious effort of years by Fireworks Production, Mr. BP Singh, Mr. Pradeep Uppoor and their team of actors, writers and production. After its success CID's producers had arranged an Award function named "CID Gallantry Awards" on Tuesday, 26 January 2010 at 9:00 pm IST on Sony Entertainment Television to celebrate their 12th anniversary.
The CID team currently consists of ACP Pradyuman, Abhijeet, Daya, Fredricks, Vivek, Tasha, Dr.Taarika and Dr.Salukhe. The actors – Shivaji Satham, Aditya Srivastava, Dayanand Shetty, Dinesh Phadnis and others, are the pillars of the show. Two new characters namely, Inspectors Sachin, Kajal were revealed on the 14 May 2010 episode of C.I.D, Dr. Sonali was revealed on the 21 May 2010 episode of C.I.D .
